ANNA PICCINII, dopo la laurea in Conservazione dei Beni Culturali , frequenta la scuola di restauro, conseguendo la qualifica di "Operatore addetto al restauro". Lavora prima come restauratrice a Villa Adriana, dove si occupa di affreschi, e poi nel laboratorio di restauro "Tessili Antichi" a Viterbo. Da qualche anno, l'interesse per le tecniche artistiche, unito all'attrazione per la pietra locale, trovano un punto d'incontro nell’attività di mosaicista, nella quale si completa, seguendo l'intero percorso che parte dal disegno a mano del soggetto da realizzare, passa per la ricerca della materia prima per le campagne di Blera e giunge all'opera finita “...dal caos della natura che ingloba la pietra in modo casuale, si passa all'ordine delle tessere selezionate per dimensione e per colore dal frammento fino all'unità ricomposta dell'immagine musiva finale…” . Negli ultimi due anni trova spazio come mosaicista tra gli espositori selezionati dalla Associazione Dimore Storiche Italiane nelle giornate dei "Cortili Aperti a Roma". Per Anna creare un mosaico, significa soprattutto lasciare un segno, una traccia di sé in un'epoca in cui tutto è virtuale, obliterabile, fugace. Alla maniera degli antichi Romani, Etruschi ,Greci affida alla pietra naturale, eterna per definizione, il compito di diventare immagine e memoria, realizzando uno dei desideri atavici dell’artista ma anche dell’uomo, quello di poter essere ricordato, di non scomparire del tutto.

Il mosaico per lei non è solo una tecnica artistica” ...una sperimentazione rischiosa, una tecnica che richiede tempi lunghi e che non ammette pentimenti, tanto più quando si lavora con il metodo indiretto…” , ma anche un lento percorso pieno di contraddizioni.
“Allo scontro violento con la materia dura, si contrappone il gesto delicato della posa delle tessere; all'intero della pietra, il frammento.. un insieme di azioni per lo più contrastanti in cui a volte leggo le contraddizioni della mia natura di essere umano.. “. L’elemento della natura è per lei essenziale, un amore che può definirsi quasi raffaellésco, nella scelta dei soggetti, nella ricerca dei materiali, nell’incanto della contemplazione proprio del naturalista ”…ad una certa distanza sono una macchia insignificante poi ,quando ci si avvicina, si possono cogliere pietre preziose incastonate, mille sfumature e trasparenze che ricordano i gioielli. È il mondo degli insetti…”

Anna incarna , per queste ragioni, più di altri, nella sua professione, l’ “artista incantato”, dalla bellezza della natura e dalla sua diversità “meravigliosa”. In lei il “simbolo” è quello della forza vitale e non possiede livelli di Cripticismo, non ne ha bisogno.

ANNA PICCINII, after graduating in Conservation of Cultural Heritage, attends the restoration school, obtaining the qualification of "Restoration Operator". She first works as a restorer at Villa Adriana, where she deals with frescoes, and then in the restoration laboratory "Ancient Textiles" in Viterbo. For some years, her interest in artistic techniques, combined with the attraction for local stone, find a meeting point in the activity of mosaicist, in which she is completed, following the entire path that starts from the hand drawing of the subject to be created, passes through the search for the raw material found in the Blera countryside and arrives at the finished work "... from the chaos of nature that casually incorporates the stone, we move on to the order of the tiles selected by size and by color from the fragment to the recomposed unity of the final mosaic image… ”. In the last two years she has found space as a mosaicist among the exhibitors selected by the Italian Historic Houses Association in the days of the "Open Courtyards in Rome". In Anna, creating a mosaic means, above all, leaving a mark, a trace of herself in an era in which everything is virtual, obliterable, fleeting. In the manner of the ancient Romans, Etruscans, Greeks entrusts to natural stone, eternal by definition, the task of becoming image and memory, realizing one of the atavistic desires of the artist but also of man, that of “being remembered”, not to disappear from the all.

According to her, mosaic is not just an artistic technique,"... a risky experimentation, a technique that takes a long time and does not admit regrets, especially when working with the indirect method ...", but a slow path full of contradictions too.

“The violent clash with hard material is contrasted by the delicate gesture of laying the tiles; within the stone, the fragment .. a set of mostly conflicting actions in which at times I read the contradictions of my nature as a human being .. “. The element of nature is essential in Anna, a love that can be defined almost Raphaelesque, in the choice of subjects, in the research of materials, in the enchantment of contemplation typical of the naturalist "... at a certain distance they seem to be an insignificant stain then, when you came nearer, you can see precious stones set, a thousand shades and transparencies reminiscent of jewels. It's the world of insects ... "

Anna embodies, for these reasons, more than others, in her profession, the "enchanted artist", with the beauty of nature and its "wonderful" diversity. In her artworks the "symbol" is the life force one and she does not have levels of Crypticism, she does not need it.
